Microsoft has just announced the release of new optional patches for the latest versions of Windows 10. As usual, the same fixes are available for users running Windows 10 version 1903 or the newer version 1909, as both versions of the OS share a common core.

The build numbers are 18363.752 for Windows 10 version 1909 and 18362.752 for the version 1903, and here’s what’s new:
- Updates an issue that causes an error when printing to a document share.
- Updates a performance issue in applications that occurs when content that is protected by digital rights management (DRM) plays or is paused in the background.
- Updates an issue that prevents the mute button from working on certain devices with the Microsoft Your Phone app.
- Updates an issue that prevents applications from closing.
- Updates an issue that causes calendar dates to appear on the wrong day of the week in the clock and date region of the notification area when you select the Samoa time zone.
- Updates an issue that causes applications to close unexpectedly when a user enters East Asian characters after changing the keyboard layout.
Microsoft says that it’s not aware of any known issues with these optional patches, but keep in mind that you’ll still get all these fixes if you wait for next month’s Patch Tuesday update. Hopefully, the latter will bring a fix for the critical vulnerabilities that Microsoft recently discovered in all recent versions of Windows.
As we’re getting closer to April, we’re also looking forward to seeing if Microsoft will start rolling out Windows 10 version 2004 next month. Last year, Microsoft waited for May to start rolling out Windows 10 version 1903, and the company may want to do the same this year to make sure that there are no more hidden bugs in the next feature update. In the meantime, the next major update has yet to hit the Windows Insider Release Preview ring.
Update 11:05 AM PT: Microsoft also announced today that it would pause the release of optional quality Windows updates starting in May 2020, though nothing will change for the monthly “Patch Tuesday” security updates. “We have been evaluating the public health situation, and we understand this is impacting our customers. In response to these challenges we are prioritizing our focus on security updates,” the company explained today.
