Microsoft is making it easier for users of Microsoft Edge on mobile to find trusted news sources, warning you of sources that have a “hidden agenda or knowingly publishes falsehoods or propaganda”.
As we noticed last week, Microsoft has integrated NewsGuard into the beta version of Microsoft Edge on iOS, but now the company is rolling it out across both iOS and Android, in beta testing (via WinBuzzer). When enabled, the address bar will show ratings of the news sources you’re currently on.
NewsGuard helps to inform people of whether that source is trustworthy and accountable, using a Green-Red rating scale. It offers extensions for a number of popular browsers, such as Chrome, but Microsoft is taking it a step further and integrating it directly within the browser on mobile.
