Microsoft regularly release updates for Windows, fixing issues and bug fixes. Some are critical which require immediate action while others are optional, meaning that there are no big issues even if you don’t install them. On Tuesday, Microsoft released 13 new Windows patches, but this time they are optional so you can choose whether you want to install them or not.
Here’s a list of some of the changes and features:
- Update for Windows Server 2012 R2 (KB3019270): removes unnecessary descriptions, and updates Office 365 integration links in the Integrate with Microsoft Office 365 wizard.”
- Update for Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2 (KB3029432): Fixes an issue where the logon process for new users takes significantly longer.
- Update for Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2 (KB3029603): Fixes an issue where xHCI driver crashes after you resume computer from sleep mode in Windows 8.1 or Windows Server 2012 R2.
- Update for Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2 (KB3034348): Fixes a problem with Windows Store app in Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, or Windows Server 2012 R2.
- Update for Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 (KB3037313): Fixes an issue where old files are not removed after a migration of virtual machine storage in Windows 8.1 or Windows Server 2012 R2.
- Update for Windows 8, Windows RT, and Windows Server 2012 (KB3040272): Fixes a problem where start time increases after another language is added to VM images in Windows Server 2012.
Most of the issues which received attention in the patches are related to Windows Server so most Windows users can stay calm. Important updates are usually marked as “Critical” and should be installed as soon as they released in order to be on the safe side, and you can decide whether you need these optional updates or not.
