According to an official description posted on the Microsoft Events website (and shared by WalkingCat on Twitter), Microsoft’s Surface line of devices will be going “Back to Black” this month.

This choice of words obviously hints that Microsoft will be either adding black Surface options to their future product line-ups or possibly be replacing the current gray/silver color scheme entirely. Early Surface RT and Surface Pro models sported a black exterior (see above image) and that design aesthetic definitely had its fans who were disappointed by the shift to silver.
Whatever Microsoft has planned for black Surface products should be revealed during their special Surface event happening later today.
