Today, September 11th, is Patch Tuesday, which means Microsoft just pushed out a new set of patches for all the current versions of Windows. We’ve already highlighted the Windows 10 April 2018 Update side of things, but here’s what you need to know about Windows 10 versions 1709 and older (via Neowin.)
First off, there is Windows 10 version 1709, better known as the Fall Creators Update. If you’re running that version you’ll be seeing KB4457142, in Windows Update bumping you up to build 16299.665. You can also find it for download here, and check below for what’s changed. Keep in mind, there are no known issues with this update. This same update will also roll out to Windows 10 Mobile, version 1709 and Windows 10 Mobile Enterprise, version 1709.
- Security updates to Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Microsoft scripting engine, Windows graphics, Windows media, Windows Shell, Windows cryptography, Windows virtualization and kernel, Windows datacenter networking, Windows hyper-V, Windows Linux, Windows kernel, Microsoft JET Database Engine, Windows MSXML, and Windows Server.
If you’re running Windows 10 version 1703, also known as the Creators Update, you will be seeing KB4457138. This version is also available for Windows 10 Mobile and will bump you up to build 15063.1324. On both PC and Mobile, it contains the same security fixes as the patch for the Fall Creators Update (seen above) There are no known issues, and a manual download is available here if you need it.
Next up, with Windows 10 version 1607, and Windows Server 2016, you’ll be seeing KB4457131, bumping you up to build 14393.2485. Again, no known issues and this brings the same security-related changes as the Fall Creators Update, and a manual download is available here.
And lastly, if you’re still for some strange reason holding onto the original version of Windows 10, known as 1507, you’ll be seeing KB4457132. This will move you up to build 10240.17976, with the same security-changes as the other three versions of Windows 10. A manual download is here if you need it, with no known issues to note.
