It’s been over three months now since Windows Insiders on the Slow Ring last had a new build, but it’s time to wait no more. Indeed, Microsoft has just pushed out build 17692.1004 to the PCs of Slow ring Insiders across the world. This is the first taste Slow ring insiders are getting of Redstone 5, and it comes with all the major changes from build 17692 (and the previous RS5 releases before that,) plus a few other fixes.

First off, we will recap by mentioning that Redstone 5 Build 17692 brings several new features like SwiftKey in Windows 10, Improvements to Edge and GameBar, Search, and much more. This build originally released about half a month ago, and there were also some significant known issues, and some fixes for explorer.exe and other bugs. You can check below for the new fixes added with today’s Slow ring release.

  • We fixed the issue where the login screen would crash in a loop when the active sign-in method is set to Picture Password.
  • We fixed the issue where DRM video playback in Microsoft Edge from websites such as Netflix was broken.
  • We fixed the issue where Keyboard Settings found under Ease of Access were missing text as well as visible values in the two combo boxes.
  • We have improved reliability and performance for launching Start.

You can see out our full coverage of build 17692 by watching the video above, or by reading here. It’s definitely nice to see Microsoft push out a Slow Ring build, especially after this long wait. In fact, the company promised during Build 2018 that more Slow Ring builds would be coming soon to better serve Insiders with incremental updates when necessary. We’re hoping for more Slow Ring builds soon, but get downloading now, and let us know how this build is running for you by dropping us a comment below.
