First unveiled at the 2014 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Ori and the Blind Forest has gone on to become on the most anticipated games of the year. Its gorgeous graphics and intimate storyline moved people at the expo, and is set to move people again today as the game is finally available to purchase and download.
Check out the video below to have a look back at its E3 2014 debut, and now that the game is out and the reviews are in, it seems that Ori and the Blind Forest has lived up to the massive expectations of critics.
“Ori and the Blind Forest is a rare realization of fantastic design and production values in a space where I wasn’t expecting to find it…” – Polygon
You play at Ori in this 2D platformer, a spirit-like being whose guardian and mother are taken away. Left to explore a vast forest on its own, facing dangerous obstacles and fighting off dark creatures. The game will awe you with a beautifully created world, and that paired with an emotional storyline and soundtrack makes the trifecta.
“Ori and the Blind Forest is a beautifully realized, brilliantly designed, and at times brutally difficult sylvan Metroidvania-style platformer with enough charm to leave a lasting impression.” – IGN
While the journey ahead will be difficult, you as a gamer will find it easy to navigate thanks to simple controls. The game works best with a controller, our preference being the Xbox One controller which the game was designed to work with but we assume any similar PC controller will do just fine as well.
“It’s got a fantastical atmosphere and whimsical characters that set the scene for one of the most promising platforming adventures to come along in a while” – GameSpot
You may not always agree with the critics, sometimes they exaggerate, other times they blow things out of proportion, but sometimes they’re spot on. And having played the game for a while (I don’t know how long exactly, I was too immersed in it), I think they’re spot on.
“I haven’t had this much fun with a game in a long time.” – Game Informer
