About two weeks ago, Microsoft quietly added a new Surface Pro with 8GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD to the lineup on the Microsoft Store online. It was then listed at the same $999 price as a Core i5 model with 4GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD, which is a model that is now removed from the Microsoft Store online (via Neowin.)
The removal of the Core i5 Surface Pro with 4GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD now only leaves a single model with 4GB of RAM— the entry-level Core m3 Surface Pro. This is a move that would make sense, as the Intel Core i5 Surface Pro with 4GB RAM and a 128GB SSD was sold out for weeks, with Microsoft even cutting the price down to $799.
Most modern computing and web browsing often require more than 4GB of RAM, so this all adds up for consumers looking to spend $1,000 on a new “Pro” tablet. You can check out all models of the Surface Pro here on the Microsoft Store online.
