The one and only Bug Bash for the next Windows 10 release may still be ongoing, but the Windows Insider team decided to release a fresh new Insider build today. This one is the build 17093, which once again brings quite a lot of new features and improvements on the table.
We invite you to check the full details about this new build on the Windows Insider blog, but here are the main highlights below:
- Game Bar: The Game Bar has been completely redesigned with the addition of a new clock, Dark and Light themes, easier access to settings, captures and more
- Diagnostic Data improvements: The new Diagnostic Data Viewer, which was introduced in the Insider build 17083 will soon let you delete all the Windows diagnostic data associated with your device. “The backend cloud system is currently under development and will be available to complete the Delete requests prior to public release of RS4,” Microsoft explained.
- Graphics improvements: More PCs can support HDR video thanks to a new experimental calibration tool, available in Settings > Apps > Video playback. For multi-GPU systems, you’ll also find a new “Advanced graphics settings” in Settings > System > Display that lets you customize graphics performance for specific applications.
- Go password-less with Windows S: If you have a Windows 10 S PC, you can now use Microsoft’s Authenticator app to set up your machine and make your experience completely password-free. That includes going through the out-of-box experience and accessing all your favorite apps and services, Microsoft explained.
- Eye Control improvements: This feature introduced with the Fall Creators Update has been improved with easier controls for scrolling, quicker access to common tasks and the ability to pause (hiding the launchpad) when you need to.
- Windows Security improvements: The Windows Defender section in the Settings app has been redesigned and renamed “Windows Security.” As for the Windows Defender Security Center, it has a new Account Protection pillar to help you protect your identity when signing in to Windows 10.
- Windows App Permissions: The Privacy Settings navigation pane has gained new categories, including a new section for Speech, Inking & Typing where you can clear your user dictionary if you need to.
- Streamlined Bluetooth pairing: Windows 10 will now display actionable notifications when Bluetooth devices are ready to pair, and the pairing process should now work with just a single click.
- Microsoft Edge improvements: After entering the full-screen mode (F11 key), you can now access the address bar by just hovering your mouse at the top of the screen. Moreover, there is a new “Clutter-free printing” option that can remove ads and more for certain type of web pages.
- Input improvements: By default, Windows 10 now supports up to 3 Latin script languages for multi-lingual text predictions, which means that you should no longer need to manually switch languages when typing in multiple languages (you can turn this feature it off in Settings > Devices > Typing > Multilingual Text Prediction).
- Ease of Access Improvements: Narrator users can now use the feature when in safe mode.
- Windows Subsystem for Linux improvements: WSL updates in this build include the ability to automatically configure certain functionality with wsl.conf, better file handling via folder level case sensitivity and more. You can get more details about the updates in the full release notes.
We didn’t expect such a big update just in the middle of the Bug Bash, but there’s definitely a lot to like in this new Insider build. It remains to be seen if future builds will keep bringing new features, but the Windows team doesn’t have much time left to fix all the bugs before the release of the “Spring Creators Update.” As usual, let us know in the comments if you encounter any issues after installing this new build on your PC.
