Just yesterday we noted that Mixer has “big plans” for 2018, with several new features lined up for the streaming platform. Well, according to the latest data from StreamLabs, Mixer did make gains in the 4th quarter of 2018 but still has a long way to go to catch up with Twitch and YouTube.
Mixer came in fourth in StreamLabs’ monthly active streamer data, growing by a total of 58%, compared to Facebook’s 62% growth, Twitch’s 197%, and YouTube 373%. Mixer also saw lesser Unique Active Streamers when compared to the competition, only having 9,699 unique active streamers in Q3 2017 and 15,868 unique active streamers in Q4 2017. Twitch held up high in that category, with 737,622 in Q3, and 813,806 in Q4.
The same is said for Monthly Active Streamers as well, where Mixer holds down 8,622 users in October, 9,821 users in November, and 11,665 users in December. This is sad when compared to Twitch, which commands with 484,243 users in October, 498,401 users in November, and 550,526 users in December.
Despite being integrated into Xbox and Windows, Mixer is still a new streaming platform when compared to Twitch and YouTube, so gamers may just need time to adapt. But with Mixer planning on working with more game developers, and also adding in the ability to donate to streamers on Mixer without having to leave the platform, there’s no telling what the future will hold. As always, feel free to let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
