Microsoft has announced that they’ll be closing their iOS, Android, and Windows phone HealthVault Insights apps sometime before the end of January. The apps are used to keep track of users’ health and lifestyle data for potential sharing with medical practitioners.
“We’ve learned a lot about how machine learning can be used to increase patient engagement and are now applying that knowledge to other projects,” the statement on the official HealthVault website reads. “As part of this progression, we’ve made the decision to remove HealthVault Insights from the iOS, Android and Windows stores effective later this month. This change will have no impact on the data users generated in HealthVault Insights, which will continue be accessible via the HealthVault website. Thank you for participating in our project. Please contact our support team if you have any questions.”
Microsoft’s HealthVault has existed in a variety of iterations over the past few years but it never really took off the way Microsoft presumably hoped it would. The relatively new HealthVault Insights apps launched just last year but it looks like they weren’t enough to reinvigorate this side project.
