YouTube today announced that they would be launching later this week an official YouTube TV app for Microsoft’s Xbox One video game console.
YouTube TV is a paid subscription service that allows its users to stream live TV from over 40 TV channels in the U.S. It’s significantly more expensive than rival on-demand streaming services such as Netflix and costs $35 a month for access to all of the supported channels and unlimited DVR.
“Since the launch of YouTube TV in April, you’ve streamed live sports, local and national news, and can’t-miss shows on your phone, tablet and computer. Now, we’re psyched to announce our new YouTube TV app, made for the big screen,” the official announcement reads. “In the next few days, you’ll be able to stream live TV through the new YouTube TV app on Android TV devices including NVIDIA SHIELD and TVs with Android TV built-in, such as Sony, as well as on the Xbox One family of devices (Xbox One, Xbox One S, and soon Xbox One X).”
The new YouTube TV Xbox One app isn’t live yet but should be discoverable from within the Store tab on the Xbox One before the end of the week.
