Cooking the perfect meal is no easy task, but finding the perfect recipe is no piece of cake either! Microsoft looks to change that with its homegrown decision engine by integrating popular recipe sites like AllRecipes.com and Food.com.
Now, users don’t even have to search for a specific recipe, they could instead search based on an event like Thanksgiving or Christmas and Bing will offer up suggestions in a neat carrousel on top of the regular search results. Clicking on a recipe will then open a recipe card that details more info such as an overview of the recipe, the required ingredients, the first few directions on how to cook the meal, a few reviews, and the nutritional information. A link is of course provided to go into the full details of the recipe from its source website.
Cortana, being powered by Bing, is also capable of displaying recipes based on events such as Thanksgiving and birthdays. The digital personal assistant ties into the MSN Food & Drink app which gets its information from even more sources such as cookbooks.
With these additions, Microsoft is reinforcing its strategy to transform Bing into something more than a simple search engine, making it a more relevant service to help people search and get to what they’re looking for.
