After Windows 10 S first launched on Microsoft’s premium Surface Laptop in June, the company said that many OEMs would soon introduce affordable Windows 10 S laptops, starting with two models from Lenovo. Asus is now following today with the VivoBook W202, the company’s first Windows 10 S laptop, now available to purchase for $279 in the US (via The Verge).
If you can’t really expect top-of-the-line specs at this price point, the VivoBook W202 seems to be a well-built laptop with rubber-lined edges and corners and an ergonomic and spill-resistant keyboard. The affordable laptop also comes with a 180-degree hinge, and the company says that its three-piece modular design is meant to facilitate on-site maintenance.
Here are the main specs of the VivoBook W202:
- 1.1GHz Intel Celeron N3350 processor,
- 4GB of RAM,
- 64GB of storage
- 11.6 inch anti-glare display with a 1366 x 768 resolution
- 2 USB 2.1 ports, 1 HDMI port, 1 SD Card reader
- Up to 11 hours of battery life
Asus will also launch a Windows 10 Home version of the VivoBook W202 next month, which will be priced at $299. According to Microsoft’s website, a Windows 10 S version of the convertible VivoBook Flip TP203 is also coming soon, along with several other Windows 10 S laptops from Dell, Samsung, Toshiba and Fujitsu.
