Today Microsoft announced a redesigned version of Outlook for iOS and Android. The redesigned version of the app features enhanced conversation experiences, the ability to quickly switch between accounts and more. Microsoft is saying that the new features are driven by stories and feedback from across the globe and from those in various industries who have been using the application.
The first of the new features is a redesigned conversation experience, which makes it easier to stay on top of your discussions. Outlook now shows more conversations, automatically opening the first unread message. You also will be able to quick reply to everyone by pressing the quick reply box.
Next up is an enhanced navigation experience, which makes it quicker to switch between accounts and browse folders. Here, the account and folder menu gets redesigned, now featuring round icons rather than a flat list. The help and settings buttons are also now in this sidebar menu, making it faster to find support options. Lastly, you will also notice faster access to important folders such as Inbox, Drafts, and groups.
Microsoft is promising that a more intelligent search is coming to Outlook for iOS and Android soon, all powered by the Microsoft Graph. The company mentions that search will soon be in the simplified tab bar, and people and files will soon be integrated into the search experience, with a special section coming that will offer proactive suggestions and access to a new “My People” card.
Those who are using Outlook for iOS with Outlook.com and Gmail accounts should now be seeing the new accounts navigation and conversations experiences. Microsoft is saying that support for Office 365 accounts will be rolling out in the coming days, with the new search experience coming to Outlook for iOS soon, and Android in the next couple of months.
