Microsoft is gearing up for the fourth major update to Windows 10, inspiringly called the Fall Creators Update. Along with a number of new consumer features like Timeline, and new Fluent Design elements, the company has been working on improvements for business users. Today the Windows Business Blog laid out the business case for new security features to be included in the latest update.
Microsoft has come a long way in its approach to security on Windows, and with the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, the plan is to harden the OS by utilizing cloud intelligence and consolodating security features into one end-to-end solution:
For the first time, Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) will include seamless integration across the entire Windows threat protection stack to protect, detect and respond with rich, centralized management. In addition, we’re extending the reach of Windows Defender ATP to include Windows Server OS to protect customers across platforms. New features and capabilities in the suite include Windows Defender Exploit Guard, Windows Defender Application Guard and substantial updates to Windows Defender Device Guard and Windows Defender Antivirus.

As we told you last week, Microsoft is planning to build its Enhanced Migration Experience Toolkit (EMET) into Windows with a new featured called Windows Defender Exploit Guard. The new feature, along with Windows Defender Application Guard and Windows Defender Device Guard will bring a full range of security features natively to Windows all in one place.
Microsoft is also working to bring the power of the cloud to enhance security as well, to “identify evolving threats from trillions of signals to block and tackle the malware and hacking threats that you encounter.”
