Today at MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2017 in Barcelona, HP has unveiled its latest convertible device, the Pro x2, a Surface-like device.
Designed for commercial use, the HP Pro x2 612 G2 is made to be stylish and to automate workflows. It is created with government, healthcare and retail in mind, so not necessarily a consumer-focused device by any means.
As a 2-in-1 convertible, the Pro x2 brings some different viewing modes, which include:
- Notebook
- Tablet
- Inking
- Presentation
These modes allow for the most versatile workflow, providing comfortable positions depending upon the task at hand. Take a look at the different modes below:
With the Pro x2 comes a magnetically attachable Collaboration Keyboard that provides dedicated keys for maging voice and video calls. A HP Active Wacom Pen with App Launch is also included, which when combined with the 165-degree kickstand making it easy to present and share.
As this device is designed for business use, security is paramout. As such, HP has added the HP Client Security Suite Gen3, an optional fingerprint sensor and an optional NFC (Near Field Communications) peripheral.

HP’s new Pro x2 612 G2 is available now, starting at $979 for the base model in the United States.
Along with the Pro x2 come some new accessories for the device. Firstly, a rugged case to help protect the Pro x2 in day-to-day usage, followed by the HP Retail Case 12 which creates a “portable solution for store associates to sell and conduct mobile transactions on the sales floor.”
In addition to those specific accessories for the Pro x2, HP also announced new accessories for the HP Elite x3 which are compatible with the Pro x2, both the Elite USB-C Dock and USB-C Travel Hub.
Pricing for the rugged case is set at $49 and the HP Retail Case 12 comes in at $249, both available now.
