No matter which season it is, the weather is always an important part of our daily lives and routines. Today, the Bing team announced that they released two new experiences to help you navigate everyday weather.
Leading off the changes is a refreshed weather UI experience on the search engine so you can more easily plan your days using visually rich forecast information. According to the Bing team, you can now view the forecast by the hour using an interactive slider. As you move the slider, new background animations and forecast data will also update to match the time of day, helping you to plan your day with confidence.
Additionally, if you’re looking for forecasts from major cities across the world, you also will notice that cityscapes in the background will adjust based on the time of day. Other cities, meanwhile will have a simple color-based gradient which will indicate the weather conditions throughout the day. Of course, there also will be continued alerts during extreme weather conditions.
To access these new features, simply type questions on Bing using natural language such as, “will it rain tomorrow” or “how is the weather this Friday?” You can even ask Bing follow-up questions, and the search engine will understand that you’re specifically asking about the weather.
Second on the list of changes is Ski Resort Snow Reports. The aim of this feature is to help you get information on your favorite ski resort more quickly. With this, Bing will provide the latest snow conditions and snow forecasts for ski resorts in the United States. All it takes to use this feature is to just search for a ski resort. After you do so, snow surface condition, snow depth, past and predicted snowfall, and weather forecast will all appear.
As most of the North East US is currently expecting a major snow storm, this feature will sure be helpful as residents dig their way out and plan for the days ahead.
