A new tablet operating system has emerged from Ubuntu, which only means competition for Microsoft’s Windows 8 and Windows RT. “With unique multitasking productivity, effortless navigation and defence-ready security, Ubuntu raises the bar on tablet design and sets a new standard for the post-PC era. Bright. Brilliant. Beautiful. And naturally neat,” Ubuntu describes its new Ubuntu for tablets operating system. While this new operating system is in early stages of its life, could it be a threat to Microsoft? Hit play and check out the features!

Mark Shuttleworth, the man in charge at Ubuntu, took a shot at Microsoft by indicating his new operating system allows for smarthpone and tablet apps to run side by side on the same device in split screen mode, which is not possible on Windows 8, Windows RT, or Windows Phone 8. In fact, he claims to have “cracked this one in a way that has eluded Microsoft.” New competitor to Microsoft? We think so.
