Spider-man promotes Xbox’s Killer Instinct fighting game in new Dell ad – onmsft.com

Insomniac Games’ new Spider-man video game may be exclusive to Sony’s PlayStation 4 console but that doesn’t mean the Marvel Comics character has to avoid Microsoft’s Xbox One completely. In addition to appearing in Marvel Heroes Omega (which launches June 30th on Xbox One) and the upcoming LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2 (November 14th), Spider-man is also doing some promotion for the Xbox One and Windows 10 fighting game, Killer Instinct, in the new Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming commercial.

The ad is a tie-in to the upcoming Spider-man Homecoming movie and appears to repurpose footage from it with some new animation of the Killer Instinct characters who take the place of Peter Parker’s classmates (in his imagination of course). You can watch the commercial right here.

The Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming is, as its name suggests, a Windows 10 laptop designed for and marketed at gamers. Using Killer Instinct in the commercial is a surprising choice as it’s a title that isn’t too widely known outside of its competitive niche. Its inclusion in this ad was likely a very deliberate decision made by Microsoft who is trying to increase the game’s popularity and expand its userbase. This isn’t the first time Killer Instinct has been promoted in the media. The game was also featured in an episode of the latest season of Fuller House on Netflix as well.

Did you like this commercial? Was Killer Instinct the right game to feature? Let us know why or why not in the comments below.
