Classic tabletop game Dungeons & Dragons is the latest IP to get a Minecraft crossover. The new DLC will arrive sometime this spring, and will feature four character classes from the Dungeons & Dragons universe: Paladin, Barbarian, Wizard, and Rogue. The as-yet unnamed DLC will also feature iconic Forgotten Realms™ locales such as Icewind Dale and more.

We’re incredibly excited to partner with Wizards of the Coast, to introduce a brand new, story-driven Dungeons & Dragons DLC to Minecraft! We can’t wait for the community to dive in and experience a blocky take on the world of D&D.”

Like any good crossover, this one will work both ways with Minecraft mobs coming to D&D via a free Monstrous Compendium DLC. The five mobs being added include Blaze, Creeper, Enderman, Wolves and the Ender Dragon.

Apparently the DLC will fuse Minecraft gameplay with certain D&D mechanics like rolling in-game 20-sided dice for skill checks. The DLC will feature an in-game manual with a D&D glossary of terms. All in all, this crossover seems like a good fit to compliment the release of Minecraft Legends, an action-strategy take on the Minecraft franchise, on April 18th.
