Microsoft’s Surface Go 3 was the rare Surface device to only be available in the classic Platinum finish, but that will soon no longer be the case. A black version of the tablet has been spotted by Aggiornamenti Lumia on the German and Italian Amazon websites, and the release date on both store listings is tomorrow, January 11, 2022.
This new black Surface Go 3 had already leaked last month, and the Amazon store listings confirm that the black finish will only be available on the high-end Intel Core i3 model with 8GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD (with or without LTE). Amazon IT has the black Surface Go 3 with LTE at €799, but the same model is currently €20 cheaper on Amazon DE.
The Surface Go 3 is currently the only current-gen Surface device that offers optional LTE connectivity, but that could change soon. According to Windows Central’s Zac Bowden, Microsoft could also introduce a new Surface Pro 8 with LTE this month or in February. The Redmond giant could also be planning to bring its new Surface Laptop Studio and Wi-Fi only Surface Pro X in more markets next month, and a Surface Laptop Go 2 may also be in the cards for this spring.
With its 10.5-inch screen, Microsoft’s Surface Go 3 remains one of the smallest Windows tablets on the market today. It’s a spiritual successor to the original Surface RT and Surface Pro tablets released 10 years ago, which both had a 10.6-inch screen and were also only available in black. Let us know in the comments if you think the new black Surface Go 3 could appeal to the nostalgic Surface audience.
