MIcrosoft begins hiring for work on the next Xbox console

The Xbox news mill seems to be whirling at full power as of late with announcements, leaks and rumors all pointing to an early concerted gaming push by Microsoft for its next generation of consoles, services and marketing efforts.

Adding to all the buzz is a recent job description that highlights the Microsoft’s search for a team to work on its next iteration of Xbox.

Based on a recent report from Gaming Bolt, Microsoft has listed several positions related to its Xbox division on its own official job board. New Xbox-related job listings include Senior Mechanical Engineer and Senior Electrical Engineer were spotted as recently as this week. While Senior Engineering titles may be broad hiring position, the job descriptions directly tie to Xbox-related work and include,

The successful candidate will be the primary technical focal point for existing and leading-edge storage technologies on currently shipping and future Xbox design projects

The Xbox Accessories Team is looking for a highly motivated and seasoned Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical system development of our next generation accessories

During E3 2018 Microsoft attempted to asuage expectations of a console release anytime soon by stating that its new console efforts (both traditional and cloud gaming systems) would be at least a couple of years off.

However, combing news of the recent Surface team enveloping Xbox hardware as well as current talent steadfast at R&D on the next Xbox, these new listings might be framing a new timeframe for the company’s next release.
