Microsoft has fulfilled one of the most requested feature on the Xbox One with its announcement of Backward Compatibility with Xbox 360 games, and the impending library of compatible titles has been growing healthily ever since. Now, in one of the more significant additions to its roster of compatible games–and to sweeten the deal for Xbox One owners on what is perhaps also one of the most anticipated game of all time, Fallout 4–Microsoft is throwing in the Xbox 360 version of Fallout 3 for free, announced Major Nelson. The game will be available after November 12 when Backward Compatibility goes online.

The offer will apply to upcoming owners of Fallout 4 on the Xbox One regardless of versions: preorder, digital, physical, part of a bundle, all will receive a free copy of Fallout 3 with their purchase. Between the classic and the new saga, players will have hundred hours of gameplay exploring the post-nuclear warfare wasteland world of Fallout in one of the best adventure experience in gaming.

Availability of both games on the Xbox One would also make it easier for players to compare the difference between the two, and better appreciate the improvements brought to Fallout 4 over its predecessor. One specific improvement is a new, refined Vault-TEC Assisted Targeting System, or V.A.T.S, a unique mechanics of the Fallout series that allows detailed calculations of damage and strategy mid-combat by stopping time and showing enemy body parts statistics. In Fallout 4, activating the system doesn’t stop time, instead slowing it; the new V.A.T.S also needs to recharge between uses. Players of both versions can now experience these differences and more without switching their machines.

The most ambitious project to date of Bethesda Game Studios (who also made another award-winning series, The Elder Scrolls), Fallout 4 recently went gold and is set to launch on November 11 this year on the Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC.
