The top free, paid, and trending Windows Phone apps and games as of October 11th

The Windows Phone Store is home to over 300,000 Windows Phone apps, with new apps coming in on a weekly basis. Let’s take a look at the Windows Phone Store and see which apps are at the top of the charts when it comes to the free, paid, and trending categories. We’ll also highlight some of these apps that have made it to the top of the charts.

As of October 11th, the top-five free apps in the Windows Phone Store (United States) are Messenger, OneDrive, Facebook, Pandora, and Instagram Beta. The top-five paid apps are Aerize Explorer Pro, Movie Maker 8.1, Start Design, Windows Phone Wallpapers, and Metrotube. The top-five trending apps are AppStore WorldWide, Microsoft XIM, Watch Disney Channel, Flipboard, and UC Browser WP8.1.

The top-five free games in the Windows Phone Store are Asphalt Overdrive, Age of Empires, Subway Surfers, Fit Fat, and Despicable Me Minion Rush. The top-five paid games are Plants vs Zombies, Cut The Rope Exp, Angry Birds, Sonic CD, and Duet.

As you can see, the top-five free apps list features the same apps as the previous week. Movie Maker 8.1 and Start Design remain a popular choice amongst paid apps, and the top-five paid games remain the same as well with Plants vs Zombies, Angry Birds, Cut the Rope, and Sonic CD retaining the same spots for the past few weeks.

Take a look below at the apps and games that have climbed to the top of the charts this week.

  • Windows Phone Wallpapers ($1.99) – An app that features thousands of wallpapers for your Windows Phone device.
  • App Store WorldWide (free) – An ad-supported alternative to the Windows Phone Store that helps you find the app you want and more.
  • Microsoft XIM (free) – Share your photos, not your phone! Xim your photos on your camera roll or favorite service to your friends’ devices. Swipe, pan and zoom together for all to enjoy, even those who don’t have the app. Read more about it here.
  • Watch Disney Channel (free) – A free app that allows you to watch full episodes, clips and more of your favorite Disney Channel shows on your phone, computer and more!
  • UC Browser WP8.1 (free) – The popular UC Browser built just for Windows Phone 8.1.
  • Asphalt Overdrive (free) – In this Gameloft game, you can drive fast across the gorgeous highways of Southern California, enjoy a subtly retro “new ’80s” atmosphere, and experience stunning visuals thanks to real-time lighting and particle effects.
  • Duet ($1.99) – One of the best AppStore Games of 2013 on iPhone & iPad, now on Windows Phone! Enter an amazing world that will change your perception of things, a world that will test your patience, a world that will change the way you think!

Stay tuned for next week’s Windows Phone Store highlight.
