Blessed with developers that don’t consider WP a second-rate mobile operating system, the app was first in line to receive a major redesign with new features added before the iOS and Android version. With an average 4.5 star rating with over 1200 reviews, you can’t go wrong with OneFootball.
Goal Live Scores
Goal.com is considered the largest football website in world and its official Windows Phone app is rather good. The regular Goal.com app seems to have gone defunct as it doesn’t display this season’s information, but their Goal Live Scores app does. This app focuses on providing live scores, line-up information and predictions.
ESPN ScoreCenter
The ESPN ScoreCenter app has been available for Windows Phone for a very long time, going back to Windows Phone 7’s days. Even though it’s been a year since the app saw its last update, it is very well designed following the timeless Modern UI guidelines, and features a rather useful Live Tile to keep you up to date with the latest scores even when the app is closed.
MSN Sports
Microsoft’s Sports app for Windows Phone has been suffering from an identity crisis over the last few months, first called Bing Sports, then just Sports, and now MSN Sports, but that doesn’t take away from the quality app that the software giant has produced. The app is also well designed, optimized for large Full HD screens, and almost everything is pinnable to the Start Screen. It’s also the only app in this list with Cortana integration.

The four apps above are mainly focused on providing news, live scores and other information, but what if you find yourself unable to reach your TV to catch that Champions League match you’ve been waiting what seems like forever for? That’s where the Fox Sports Go app can save the day. As long as you sign in with one of its supported TV providers, you’ll be able to live stream your matches wherever you are.
These apps can serve as excellent companions when watching a live match and all but the ESPN ScoreCenter app are Universal Apps, meaning they run on both Windows Phone and Windows devices. While these apps can satisfy most of a football fan’s needs, there is still room for even more official apps, particularly from football clubs and TV providers to grace the Windows Store.
