Microsoft responds to Xbox Cloud Gaming and Xbox Game Pass speculation – onmsft.com

After a growing number of people began noticing video games like Elden Ring and GTA5 being labelled as available via Xbox Cloud Gaming and Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft released an official statement saying that the whole thing was some kind of bug that’s since been corrected.

“We’re aware of a bug that incorrectly displayed some titles as available with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. We rolled out a fix and this is now updated,” a spokesperson told Eurogamer.

Of course, all this statement confirms is that titles were showing up on lists that they weren’t meant to. It’s still up in the air whether Elden Ring, GTA5, and the others were showing up ahead of a planned future launch or if there’s no plan for them to come to Xbox Game Pass at all and that this glitch was completely random.

Whatever the situation was, gamers will likely get confirmation one way or the other later this month during the Gamescom 2 where Microsoft’s Xbox will have a heavy presence and will be officially showcasing the new Xbox Cloud Gaming-enabled Samsung Smart TVs.

If Microsoft has a major Xbox Cloud Gaming or Xbox Game Pass announcement to make in the near future, making it during Gamescom 2022 would be a logical move.
