Lumia Icon and Lumia 930 have major issues with latest Windows 10 Mobile build

Lumia Icon and Lumia 930 have major issues with latest Windows 10 Mobile build

When Windows 10 Mobile preview build 10080 was released, I was excited. I backup everything on my Icon through OneDrive, so I wasn’t worried about losing everything when I updated my Icon to Windows 10 Mobile. I was interested in testing out the features of Windows 10 Mobile that everyone has talked about over the last few weeks. Whether I bricked my Icon or not, I was just looking to test out Windows 10 Mobile come hell or high water.

I follow Zac Bowden’s hands-on videos religiously, and he dumbs it down enough for someone as bird-brained as me to understand:

I figured since I had the high-end Lumia Icon, I wouldn’t run into any problems, but I was definitely wrong. Once I updated to Windows 10 Mobile preview build 10080, the update process was all going according to plan until the update was finished and all that my Start screen displayed was a “Loading” message. Other times, I would reboot my Icon and all I would get was a black screen with no Start menu in sight and the only accessible items would be the dropdown notification center.

Hopefully, Microsoft will bring out a fix to this issue sometime in an update soon. However, many Lumia Icon and Lumia 930 users in the Microsoft forums have developed their own Brogan adjustments to try to get their devices up and running more smoothly. Given that this is a preview build of the Windows 10 Mobile and not representative of the final product, it is still disappointing to see that Windows Mobile 10 is still not functional on the Lumia Icon and Lumia 930; there are just too many bugs and build 10080 is hopelessly slow.

Lumia Icon and Lumia 930 users will just have to be patient until Microsoft comes up with a fix for this the latest build issue. Until then, I reverted back to Windows Phone 8.1 with the Nokia Recovery Tool. I look forward to testing out Windows 10 Mobile on my Lumia Icon in the near future.
