If you use Outlook.com for a personal account, you’re probably already aware that spam email has become quite the problem in the last couple of months, and that it got significantly worse today. I had 27 emails in my inbox this morning, with some 22-23 of them spam. The issue appears to be widespread, and The Verge posted on it this morning. They’ve reached out to Microsoft, as have we and hopefully we’ll get an explanation and some relief soon.

As The Verge notes, you might want to turn off notifications on your phone for your personal accounts, or risk getting notifications for these spam messages, which could end up being quite bothersome.

Microsoft has been quiet so far on why Outlook.com has been serving so much spam recently, when it’s pretty apparent that these messages are indeed spam and should have been caught by spam filters.

Hopefully we’ll get answers soon.
