Waze app won’t be updated until number of Windows phone users increases

Fans of the Windows 10 Waze app are in for some disappointment as it appears the app’s developers have no plans to update it in the immediate future.

On MSFT reader, Mateus, reached out to the Waze team via their official Twitter account and was told that the small number of users on the Windows phone platform really didn’t justify the costs of app development at this point in time.

@eunociti Right now most of our users are on iOS/Android. If/When this changes we’ll be happy to put out more updates for WP.

While this is bad news for loyal users, it is worth noting that the developers haven’t shut the door on updating in the future and that when or if the Windows phone version of the Waze app gains more users, they will support it once more.

Waze is sort of a mix of a social network and traffic navigation app and relies on users to update the each other on traffic conditions, fuel costs, and even accidents on the road. You can also actively report accidents, hazards, police and other events you see on the road, and get road alerts on your route too. Find the cheapest petrol station along your route with community-shared fuel prices. Waze also makes it fun and simple to meet up and coordinate with friends on the road. It’s all about contributing to and benefiting from the ‘common good’ on the road, so hop on board and get involved in your local driving community today!
