Today, Microsoft announced that Teams progressive web app (PWA) for Linux has reached broad availability. If you are using either Microsoft Edge or Chrome on Linux, then you will be able to access the new Teams PWA experience.

“Linux customers who rely on Microsoft Teams for collaboration and communication needs told us they want the full richness of Teams features available for their users in a secure way. This can now be achieved using the Teams PWA”. says Microsoft.

With this in place, Linux users will be able to get the latest Microsoft Teams features quicker as it closes the gap between the Teams desktop client on Linux and Windows.

What’s more, Linux users will now get to access more features such as gallery view, reactions, the raise-a-hand feature in meetings, and custom backgrounds. On top of that, the PWA experience will also provide you with desktop-like app features like system notifications for chat and channel and a dock icon with respective controls.

While on the Edge browser, the PWA for Linux can be used with Conditional Access configuration and applied through Endpoint Manager which will in turn allow users to access the Teams web application securely.
