Samsung ATIV S getting Windows Phone 8.1 update in specific regions

Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 has reached a few Lumia devices in the past few weeks. If you’re in possession of a Samsung ATIV S, reports suggest specific variants of the handset are getting the Windows Phone 8.1 Update with build 14157, and firmware 2424.14.9.3.

It’s not as widespread as you may think, and Windows Central reports it’s limited to Austria, and maybe Hong Kong as well. The carrier-branded version of the handset is not getting the update as we speak, but you never know, things may change in the near future.

There’s no official word if Samsung is rolling out the latest update for any other regions, but it could happen soon. The best thing Samsung Ativ S users can do is wait for the company to officially release the update. Just keep checking for the update manually from the Settings > Phone Update on your device, and pray that you get lucky.

Let us know using the comments below if you’re one of the few lucky ones who received the update, and yes, do mention your region as well.
