Yesterday, 343 Industries’ Dan Ayoub introduced a new trailer for Halo Wars 2, the upcoming real time strategy game that will be released on both the Xbox One and Windows 10 in February 2017. The cinematic trailer focuses on Atriox, a Brute enslaved by the Covenant who later went into a rebellion to found an army of mercenaries called The Banished.
If this new trailer gets you excited for Halo Wars 2, Ayoub also announced yesterday that anyone who preorders the game’s Ultimate Edition will also receive a digital download code for Halo Wars: Definitive Edition on December 20. This remaster of the 2009 RTS console game will be an Xbox Play Anywhere title and include all the game’s DLC as well as new achievements.
Once you pre-order the $79.99 Halo War 2: Ultimate Edition on the Microsoft Store (confusingly, the game costs $119.70 on the Windows Store as of today) , you will receive the download code for Halo Wars: Definitive Edition in your Xbox message center starting December 20, though the Xbox team notes that codes will roll out in waves. For those of you who pre-ordered the bundle from a participating retailer, you will also receive a download for the remastered game starting December 20 after redeeming the code for Halo Wars 2 UE from your Xbox account.
