Microsoft has released information about the new features and updates coming to the Viva Engage platform, focusing on enhancing the use of video and images for communication and engagement within organizations. Another Microsoft Viva suite product, Viva Pulse, announced nine updates.

What is Viva Engage?

Viva Engage is an app for social collaboration and part of the Microsoft Viva suite of employee experience (EX) products. Its purpose is to assist employees in connecting with each other, sharing knowledge, and establishing a community.

Changes to the “Stories” Feature

Based on user feedback received during its public preview, improvements are being made to the “Stories” feature. Videos and images will not be separated into a distinct carousel to prevent confusion. Instead, all media will appear in the existing feeds. Engaging layouts and immersive viewers will showcase videos and images within posts.

Media Sharing

Users can access dedicated buttons for adding videos and images in the command bar. This feature is available for both desktop and mobile devices. Mobile users can also record videos. Desktop users can record videos using their webcam or screen recording.

Media Presentation

The updated design now displays videos and images right in the feeds. A post with only one video or photo and very little text will be showcased automatically.

Availability

  • Next quarter, Viva Engage users will receive new buttons for uploading and recording media at no additional cost.
  • Later in the year, preview customers will have access to enhanced media experiences, such as showcasing media in feeds and using the immersive player.
  • Creators using the Microsoft Viva suite will have access to the new video and image experiences.

These updates seem to provide a more streamlined and engaging experience for sharing and consuming video and image content within the Viva Engage platform.
