Microsoft unveils integration of Planner and Loop for collaboration in Microsoft 365

Microsoft has announced integration between Microsoft Planner and Microsoft Loop. We discussed its roadmap release earlier.

Microsoft Planner is a visual task management tool that helps teams plan, track, and complete work. Its features include creating plans, assigning tasks, setting due dates, and adding labels and comments to stay organized.

Microsoft Loop is a collaboration tool that allows users to create and share “components” of content that can be embedded in other documents and applications. Loop components are kept in sync across all the places they are shared so users can easily collaborate on projects and tasks.

Now let’s see how it works:

  1. Integration of Planner and Loop: Users can now render Planner plans in Loop by pasting the plan URL directly into any Loop page. This integration allows for seamless collaboration between Planner and Loop within the Microsoft ecosystem.
  2. Bringing Planner into Loop: Users can copy and paste Planner links into various Microsoft applications like emails, whiteboards, Teams channels, and chats to start collaborating from those locations.

To render a Planner plan in Loop, users should follow these steps:

  1. Go to tasks.office.com and open an existing plan or create one.
  2. Copy the link to the plan from the address bar.
  3. Go to loop.microsoft.com and open or create a workspace.
  4. Open an existing page or create one by clicking the “Add a page or link” button in the left pane and clicking “New page.”
  5. Paste the copied link to the Planner plan into the Loop page body.

Requirements: Users need a Microsoft Work account to paste a Planner link into Loop, and administrators should ensure that Loop is enabled for their organization.

Known Issues: Some known issues include the inability to undo task deletions and certain features not being available yet. Users can check the active features at tasks.office.com.

Availability: This feature is available to all Insiders on the web who are part of the Microsoft Loop Technology Adoption Program and have an active Microsoft 365 subscription.

Overall, this integration seems like a valuable addition for users of both Planner and Loop, making it easier for teams to manage tasks and collaborate effectively.
