Microsoft Pix updated to handle whiteboard captures, more

Microsoft Pix, the company’s AI-powered camera app for iPhone has just become much more versatile. The app can still automatically improve photos of your friends and family by tweaking settings and using some AI magic, but you’re now invited to use it to take pictures of documents, whiteboards and business cards.
Here is everything that’s new in the version 1.1.3:
- Pix now recognizes documents, whiteboards and business cards, and provides a “scanned” image along with the original picture
- New Styles for your scanned images to add lined paper, crumpled paper and other document-related effects. Tap a scanned image then Edit > Effects to apply a new Style
- iCloud support
- Pix will no longer stop music playing when you take a picture
As Microsoft explained in a blog post today, Microsoft Pix is becoming a nice complement to the company’s Office Lens app. “Office Lens remains the best tool to easily integrate productivity images across the suite of Office products, while Microsoft Pix is out front pushing the boundaries of using AI to take better pictures of everything from a snapshot of your kid in new sneakers to the whiteboard in your morning meeting.”
Microsoft Pix is still an iOS exclusive for now, but Microsoft says that “the research thrust behind Microsoft Pix informs innovation across apps, including Office Lens.” You can download the app from the download link below, be aware that it now requires iOS 10 or later.
