For those of you starting out as brand new Windows Phone app developers or if you are a seasoned Windows Phone developer, Microsoft has put up a new blog post showcasing all the UX and UI guidelines for the Windows Phone platform. This blog post details all the bells and whistles when it comes to proper and authentic app.
“Here is a recommended checklist of things that you should consider when you are building your windows phone app. This list is not exhaustive. It should be used as a guide only,” Dina Helmy stated on an MSDN blog post. Simply head over to the VIA link below to check out the guidelines.
For example, did you know that all pages within an app should respect the 12px or 24px margin on the left? Did you know that content, titles, headers, and header logos should be left aligned to 12px or 24px margin? Did you know that using a background in an app is discouraged, unless needed for brand reasons? There are plenty of tips, suggestions, and guidelines for an app developer to create an authentic Windows Phone app.
For those of you just starting out, it is recommended to spend time using the built-in apps that ship with Windows Phone. This will allow you to be familiar with the operating system’s unique set of controls and designs, and is the first step in building a compelling Windows Phone UI/UX complaint app.
