As many sit and wait for their free upgradable copy of Windows 10 to hit their PCs, the folks over at Mojang are preparing a little treat of their own for Windows 10 users. While Microsoft may have purchased Minecraft to help display its future augmented reality headset, the relationship between game developer Mojang and Microsoft has blossomed benefits outside of the HoloLens project. Among the newly bestowed benefits, Windows Phone users are now free to enjoy a pocketable version of Minecraft built for the platform, as well as Xbox specific customizations.

Adding to the partnership, Mojang is now offering newly upgraded Windows 10 users who also happen to be Minecraft players, a free Windows 10 Edition of Minecraft. The announcement of the free offering was first revealed at MINECON 2015 a few weeks ago. The Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta is being offered for free to the 20 million(ish) players who already own Minecraft for PC or Mac.

Mojang notes that the update is still rolling out, so if players do not see the upgrade button on their account page, “don panic.” To download a copy, players must first log into their Mojang account, hit the “Redeem” button on the account page and then sign into their Microsoft account. Once prompted, follow the instructions, and Minecraft players should be off to the races.

Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta can be found in the Windows Store once users upgrade to Windows 10.
