After years of anticipation, fans of the popular video game franchise Borderlands can finally mark their calendars as the film adaptation is set to hit theatres on August 9, 2024. The release date was confirmed by Deadline, a trusted source in the entertainment industry.

The revelation of the talented minds behind the screenplay makes this announcement even more exciting. The script was co-written by none other than Eli Roth, known for his work on chilling horror films like “Hostel” and “Cabin Fever,” alongside Joe Crombie. While Eli Roth’s involvement has been well-known, Crombie’s identity has remained a mystery, leading to numerous speculations.

Reports started to circulate that Joe Crombie might be a pseudonym used by Craig Mazin, the creator of the acclaimed TV series “Chernobyl” and co-creator of the popular “The Last of Us” TV adaptation. However, Mazin categorically denied any connection to Joe Crombie to Variety. The involvement of Craig Mazin in the Borderlands film project was initially reported back in 2020, but this recent clarification puts an end to that assumption.

The Borderlands film has been a long time coming since its initial announcement back in 2015. As the cast was revealed, the excitement surrounding the movie grew exponentially. The ensemble includes some top-notch talent, such as Cate Blanchett, Edgar Ramirez, Kevin Hart, Ariana Greenblatt, Florian Munteanu, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jack Black, and many more, promising an engaging and star-studded cinematic experience for fans and moviegoers alike.

Now, with the release date finally set and the screenplay details disclosed, the countdown to the Borderlands film has truly begun. Be sure to mark August 9, 2024, in your calendars, as it’s a date you won’t want to miss at the box office.
