New Prey trailer and gameplay information revealed at QuakeCon yesterday – onmsft.com

Arkane Studios’ reboot of the Prey franchise has a lot of gamers talking, so it was expected to be a major feature during Bethesda’s QuakeCon this year.

Revealed just a few months ago at E3, we still don’t know too much about the story of the upcoming Prey title. While this trailer does a little more to explain the premise, it seems Bethesda is enjoying the tease of their highly anticipated new game.

Thankfully, our friends over at PC Gamer sent a couple of their staff to attend the event and even they were surprised to learn more about the game’s quirky but dark gameplay. According to their coverage, the game will have scarce ammo and eye injections which gave them a System Shock vibe.

Set on a space station named Talos One, aliens are the main enemy. The protagonist Morgan Yu utilizes the ‘Neuromods’ from the eye injections to gain scientific superpowers to fight these alien monstrosities. But you can’t always trust what is right in front of you. With the alien’s ability to mimic and turn into inanimate objects, Morgan is forced to learn similar abilities. So yes, as PC Gamer puts it, you can turn into a mug.

Not quite as interesting, the protagonist will learn many other abilities that will help traverse, hide, and fight the alien horde. Of course, when you aren’t using superpowers, you’ll get to take your weapons out and blow them up, because that’s the way to solve almost any alien threat! Some unique tools include the imploding grenades, ‘Gloo Gun’ that hardens your enemies and makes new pathways, and of course the necessary crafting workbenches.

Prey looks to be a complicated mix between the surreal and horror. Fans seem a bit concerned that Bethesda might not be able to meet expectations but for now we can only wait to see what comes next. Prey is planned to be released in 2017 for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
