More Nokia devices codenames surfaces, Vela, Athena and Libra in works

Not too long ago, the well-connected Twitter leaker @evleaks posted Nokia’s product roadmap, which revealed several devices. The list includes some budget-friendly, as well as high-end devices, such as Tesla, McLaren, Rock, Dempsey, and a few more. Now, the leaker is back with some more codenames of upcoming devices from Nokia, which is under Microsoft’s leadership. The new codenames are: Vela, Athena, and Libra.

He didn’t share any other detail about the alleged devices, whether they are tablets or smartphones. If smartphones, are we looking at Windows Phone handsets or more AOSP-based variants like the Nokia X. Nothing, nil, there’s no information about it, but if we were to guess, we’d say these might be Windows Phone devices. It seems Nokia has replaced its Asha lineup with the Nokia X handsets, and even announced its successor dubbed as the Nokia X2. So, Windows Phone devices makes more sense, but you never know.

It seems Microsoft has a huge list of devices in its product roadmap for the year, and we may see devices targeting different segments of the market, not just high-end. And, with Windows Phone 8.1, the Redmond-based company may succeed in gaining back the long lost market share to Android and Apple. Well, for now, this is all we have, but we’re pretty sure more information will pop up sooner or later. We’ll keep an eye on the blogosphere and update you as soon as we learn anything about these handsets.
