OneNote has been making a lot of buzz lately — all for good reasons. Perhaps that is why Microsoft wants all its Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) — partners that make computers to include OneNote on the systems at the time of shipping, as we just learned from a leaked document.
Microsoft has added OneNote app to the inbox apps, a bunch of apps that Microsoft wants all of its OEM partners to install before starting to selling the devices. The company also mentions that unless the note-taking app OneNote, which is now freely available across all popular platforms, is included then the General Distribution Release (GDR) will have a vacant space on the screen.
OneNote recently became available on Mac OS, and within hours it went on to become the top free download on Mac’s app store. You can download and use OneNote on your Windows computer, Windows Phone, Android, Mac and iOS.
Windows 8.1 Update 1, aka spring update, is set to release sometime next month. But Microsoft just keeps making it available for download. Rumor has it that Update 1 will arrive on MSDN on the 2nd of April, and it will become available to all on April 8th, also the day Windows XP, Microsoft’s almost 13 year old operating system, reaches its end of support.
