Just bought a new Surface Book? It comes with the Surface Pen and if you are unable to pair the two during your initial setup, here’s a quick and easy way to do it. All you have to do is head over to the Settings app, tap or click on Devices, then tap or click on Bluetooth. Ensure Bluetooth is turned on and then hold down the top of the Surface Pen for approximately seven seconds.

Here’s a quick breakdown of what you need to do:

  1. Go to Start , and select Settings > Devices > Bluetooth.
  2. Make sure Bluetooth is On.
  3. Hold down the top button of the pen for about seven seconds, until the light at the rear of the pen clip starts to flash.

You’re done! You should now see that the Surface Pen is paired to your Surface Book. If you click the top of the pen, OneNote should immediately launch, allowing you to quickly take notes while on the go. A very convenient feature indeed!
