In a blog post today, Google has announced some new features coming to Chromebooks, including new movie and video editing features coming to Google Photos, which are coming first to Chromebooks beginning this fall.
Similar to Microsoft’s Clipchamp, the new video editor in Google Photos tries to make creating videos easy, offering pre-built themes and easy ways to create videos from photos, videos, a title card, and music. It can select “the most meaningful moments” from longer videos, or trim them yourself, and apply Real Tone filters to make your videos more appealing and more realistic.
If you want to create your own videos from scratch, the editor will let you do that too, by selecting and arranging videos and photos. If you want more control, Lumafusion, an iOS App of the Year, is coming to Chromebooks this fall, too.
Along with the new video editor, Google is introducing PDF editing features to the Chromebook Gallery, its default Media app, and adding a video screen capture app, Screencast, and a Cursive app that captures and organizes handwritten apps.
