Microsoft announced that a second-generation Surface Hub 2S is making its way to Microsoft Teams Rooms later this year with a new version of Windows called Teams Rooms on Windows.

“When all new Surface Hubs ship with the Teams Rooms experience starting later this year, Surface Hub 2S will become the first touch-enabled board running Teams Rooms on Windows,” says Microsoft. The second-generation devices will ship with a similar design as before, that is, the 50-inch and 85-inch.

Teams Rooms on Windows ships with a host of new capabilities that are designed to enhance the meeting experience for both users and admins such as Front Row, persistent chat, consistent remote management capabilities, and more. Windows Central’s Zac Bowden also indicated that the new experience features a new user interface that’s quite similar to the one on Teams Rooms for Android devices.

Microsoft has indicated that it will continue supporting the existing Surface Hub 2S till it hits its end-of-support date which is slated for October 14, 2025. It’s worth noting that the Surface Hub 2S currently runs on Windows 10, which is also set to reach its end of support on the same date.

The company has further indicated that it will be rolling out the new Teams Rooms on Windows update to second-generation devices, existing Surface Hub 2S devices running on Windows 10 will be able to access the update at a later date.

Microsoft hasn’t given a precise date indicating when it intends to make this launch, neither has it given a price tag for these devices.
