Run Android 5.0 Lollipop apps and games on your Windows devices

AMIDuOS 2.0 Lollipop is out of beta and is now ready for the masses. We’ve reviewed AMIDuOS before and it is one of, if not the best Android emulator for Windows available. Don’t let the word ‘emulator’ put you off (or is it ‘Android’ that bothers you, Windows fans?), AMIDuOS runs buttery smooth.

Microsoft is currently working on a solution to let developers easily port their Android apps to Windows with Project Astoria, but that puts the ball in the hands of the developers to make a move. With AMIDuOS, you’re converting your Windows device into an Android one. And with access to the Google Play Store, you have all the Android apps you need, no developer intervention required.

Your PC will need to have hardware virtualization enabled for AMIDuOS to run as intended. Unfortunately for Surface 3 owners, even though the Atom x7 processor inside supports hardware virtualization, it is disabled via the firmware with no clear way to enable it. Windows desktop, laptop, and Surface Pro owners, you should face no issues, but check your processor specs for virtualization technology to be sure.

AMIDuOS 2.0 with Android 5.0 Lollipop is now available for $15. There’s a 30-day trial if you want to check out how it runs on your device before buying. That’s plenty of time to really give it a go. The KitKat version is still available, and it sells for $10.
