A Microsoft spokesperson has today confirmed that the Xbox One can stream games whilst they are downloaded over Xbox LIVE, this will allow gamers who prefer to purchase the digital version of a game to start playing it almost instantly after it has been purchased.

It was recently confirmed that the Xbox One would be able to play games from the disk while the game was installed to the hard drive, and today Microsoft confirmed the same ability with digital downloads. With digital downloads, Xbox One will stream game files whilst downloading them, and will play from the hard drive once the game has downloaded and installed.

As the Xbox One offers day one digital downloads on games, gamers can choose from either a disk based version or digital version. As Microsoft are pushing towards a digital future with the Xbox One, it’s more than likely that Microsoft will be pushing digital downloads much more than disk based purchases.
