Windows Phone app update roundup: Device hub, Mint, Readit, Angry Birds, Swarm, and more

Nothing is more appreciated than an app update for your favorite or most-used app. Several popular apps received an update today, including Microsoft’s own Device Hub, as well as Mint, Readit, Angry Birds, Bad Piggies, Swarm, and the Xbox One SmartGlass app.

Let’s take a look at each of the change logs for these apps and see what’s new and improved, shall we? Starting with Microsoft apps first, the Device Hub app has been updated to add support for the Wireless Speaker MD-12 and other upcoming accessories. The app also features general performance and stability improvements.

For those that didn’t know, the Device Hub app lets you manage your devices via your Windows Phone device. “Easily manage your devices from your phone with Device Hub. You can connect to and manage your other phones, accessories, tablets and computers, game consoles, TVs, printers and a number of other devices. And designed to help you make the most of all your devices, Device Hub recommends apps available for your connected devices. Pin a device to the Start screen to get easy access to all the apps that work with the device,” the Device Hub app description reads.

Xbox One SmartGlass app for Windows Phone was also updated, now allowing you to see highlights of your best game clips and achievements in a new showcase. You can also see which friends play a game in game details, as well as see location and bio information in profiles. The UI has been improved for activity feed comments, and you can now shop for apps, Games with Gold, and Deals with Gold via the Xbox Store. The app also features various bug fixes.

Readit

The Readit app, a fantastic Reddit client for Windows Phone, has been updated and fixes the following issues: Memory leak fix for images, now features a higher quality compression for full size images on both low and high memory devices, a fallback was implemented for when the image processing cloud server is unavailable, and loading context should now size comments correctly.

Angry Birds has been updated, adding the ‘South Hamerica Episode’ which features 24 free levels plus three bonus ones, each packed with relics, artifacts and… pesky piggies. There are also Pig Day levels for thos eof you looking for a new challenge.

Swarm

Bad Piggies had a minor update (or major if you love achievements), adding support for Xbox Live. Swarm, the new app from Foursquare, has added the following new features: A setting to control the distance units (Auto/Imperial/Metric), the ability to get straight to the sticker leaderboards, bug fixes and stability improvements especially in poor network coverage conditions. The app also fixes an issue with the keyboard covering text entry when editing your profile and miscellaneous crashes.

Last but not least, the Mint app has received a minor update, simply addressing bugs. You can snag all these updated apps via the download links below.
