Windows Phone 8.1 powered HTC W8 headed to Verizon – onmsft.com

It’s been a long time since HTC released a Windows Phone device — I seriously can’t remember, I think it was back in 2012. However, with the launch of the latest Windows Phone 8.1, it seems that things are about to change. If the prolific leaker is correct, we should see another high-end Windows Phone device land at the Big Red.

According to a new tweet from the well informed @evleaks, HTC may launch a Windows Phone 8.1 powered device, dubbed as HTC W8, on Verizon. @evleaks also mentioned it will be a flagship Windows Phone 8.1 device, so we can speculate a little bit that we might see a spec sheet similar to that of the HTC One M8.

It seems more OEMs are jumping on the Windows Phone bandwagon as Samsung is also rumored to be working on a new Windows Phone 8.1 device, and now HTC. If these rumors are correct, we might see a little bit of competition in the Windows Phone market, which is dominated by Nokia who is now a part of Microsoft itself.

It would be interesting to see what the HTC W8 will offer. What do you think about this? Will you buy a Windows Phone device from HTC or you’re just happy with the Lumia line up? Sound off in the comments below.
