Microsoft has released Windows 11 KB5077239, a non-security preview update for Windows 11 version 26H1, taking PCs to OS Build 28000.1643.
It ships in two phases: a gradual rollout (features arrive in waves) and a normal rollout (broad availability).
Here is what’s new and improved.
Copilot+ PC updates
Settings Agent gets more languages
The Settings Agent now supports more languages, including German, Portuguese, Spanish, Korean, Japanese, Hindi, Italian, and Simplified Chinese. Search in Settings also gets a better results menu with a scrollbar, faster “recommended settings” actions, and a clearer dialog when Windows cannot apply a setting any further.
Click to Do has a cleaner menu
Click to Do gets a streamlined context menu, with common actions like Copy, Save, Share, and Open easier to reach. On some devices, it can also pop up automatically when Windows detects a large image or table on screen (availability varies by device and market).
Camera: Studio Effects on more cameras
You can now enable Windows Studio Effects for additional cameras (like a USB webcam or a rear camera on supported laptops). You can pick the camera in Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Cameras, then enable Studio Effects in Advanced camera options.
File Explorer
Microsoft updated the Search box placeholder text to highlight enhanced Windows Search. Also, File Explorer Home on-hover actions are now available for enterprise customers.
Windows 11 changes for everyone
Cross-Device Resume expands
Cross-Device Resume now supports more “pick up where you left off” scenarios from Android to PC, including resuming Spotify, continuing work in Word, Excel, or PowerPoint, and continuing a browsing session. Vivo users may resume browsing from Vivo Browser, and some Android brands (including HONOR, OPPO, Samsung, vivo, Xiaomi) can resume online files opened in the Copilot app, which then open in Microsoft 365 apps (or a browser if the app is not installed). Offline-only files stored on the phone are not supported.
File Explorer gets a stronger dark mode
File Explorer now has a more consistent dark mode, including updated copy, move, delete dialogs, refreshed progress bars, and improved confirmation and error dialogs. There’s also a simplified context menu (rolling out to a small group first) and a toggle to enable the Recommended section on the Home page. Microsoft also notes networking responsiveness improvements, thumbnail fixes for certain video metadata, and a fix where the “Open” icon could look generic.
Security, sign-in, and reliability
- Windows Hello ESS now supports peripheral fingerprint readers, not just built-in sensors.
- Explorer reliability improves for cases where Explorer.exe could hang on first sign-in (and the taskbar might not appear).
- Activation improves license migration during upgrades.
- The lock screen gets fixes for rare unresponsive behavior.
Accessibility and input
Narrator now lets you choose what it announces and in what order. Voice Access has a simpler setup flow, and Voice Typing adds a “wait time before acting” setting. There are also input updates like better keyboard setting labels, haptic pen feedback support on compatible pens, and improved keyboard backlight behavior on supported HID keyboards.
More updates across Windows
You’ll also see:
- A new Mobile Devices page in Settings for managing connected phone features
- A new OneDrive icon on the Accounts home page in Settings
- Windows Share drag tray improvements (multi-file sharing, more relevant app suggestions)
- Gaming: expanded Full screen experience on more handheld PCs
- Display fixes to reduce stutter when apps query supported monitor modes
Can I download Windows 11 KB5077239 update?
This is an optional preview update and some features are gradually rolling out, so two PCs on the same build may not show the same changes yet. Feature availability can also vary by device, market, and region (some sharing features are not available in the European Economic Area).
